Glossary

An HTML attribute consisting of the IMG tag. The IMG tag is for displaying image files. Alt tag/attribute is the text that is displayed when the image does not load.

To give you an example, here’s what a standard IMG tag could look like:

Alt tags have SEO value. At current Google can not interpret what an actual image presents, but it can interpret the alt tag. This is why google references Alt Tag to categorize data.
